“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go”   Author unknown

Greetings from the Children’s Room:

The start of fall coincides with added hours to the library’s schedule including the Children’s Room. We are now open seven days a week with some evening hours. The children’s room is open for browsing, checkout of materials and lobby pickup if needed.   You can contact us at to request materials for pickup or share a comment. We are always happy whether by email or in person  to give suggestions for a good read from our collection of new titles and old favorites. The Children’s Room programs and events are listed on our monthly calendar, with the chilly weather coming on we will be offering a hybrid program for our story hours.  Please check the calendar to confirm dates and times. For everyone’s safety we are following all the guidelines and protocols as mandated by The Village of South Orange.  Face masks in the building are mandatory for ages 2 and up as mandated by The Village.

Its almost time to get out the glitter, glue and feathers for our annual “Color a Turkey “contest.  All ages are welcome from toddlers to grownups! This year will be the 23rd year of the Children’s Room  “Color a Turkey Contest “, please be sure to pick up your coloring page starting on Monday, November 22nd , 2021.

And please stop by my desk to say hello and I look forward to welcoming you to the SOPL library and children’s room.

Beth Halliday
