SOPL has reopened in our temporary location!

The main library has closed for construction, and the library has moved its operations to a different location at 298 Walton Ave.

Materials can currently be returned in three places:
Book drop in front of 298 Walton Ave.
Main library building @ 65 Scotland Rd., back door (not the green donation bin)
Any BCCLS library will accept our materials

Services available at 298 Walton Ave.

  • Adult, Teen, Children’s reference & Reader’s advisory
  • Material circulation from our collection
    • New books are on display for browsing; all others must be requested for staff to pull from book room
    • About half our collection will be available at Walton; more will be made available when second location opens later in 2024
  • BCCLS delivery
    • More than 5 million items from 77 other libraries available to be sent to us for pickup
  • Interlibrary loan
    • Any items not found within BCCLS consortium can be requested through JerseyCat, the statewide catalog
  • Computer and Internet access
    • 3 computers for public use; 30 minutes suggested time
  • Printing and Scanning
    • No fee for scanning; printing is 25 cents/page B&W, 50 cents/page color
    • Wireless printing: email your print requests to print@sopl.org and pick them up within 4 days
  • Notary & proctoring (appts. preferred)
  • Community programs: via Zoom until further notice


Unfortunately, our space is limited and will not allow room for study tables or meeting areas.
