Interlibrary Loan
South Orange Public Library cardholders can request up to 3 titles at one time that is not available in the BCCLS catalog through JerseyCat, New Jersey’s statewide library catalog. These titles include physical books and media (not electronic/digital books), as well as journal articles. You will be notified once the items have arrived, which usually takes 5-7 business days. Due dates and renewals are determined by the lending library.

ReBL (Reciprocal Borrowing & Lending)
South Orange Public Library is also a member of the ReBL group of Essex County libraries. With a current-year sticker on your library card, you can check materials out at most Essex County libraries based on each library’s lending policy. ReBL stickers must be renewed annually, and they are free of charge. Lost or damaged materials must be reconciled with the lending libraries based on their policies.
Note: If you are a member of a BCCLS library (such as Maplewood, Millburn, Montclair, Livingston, West Orange), you do not need a ReBL sticker to use SOPL, or vice versa. Only those non-BCCLS libraries (Newark, East Orange, Seton Hall) would need the sticker.
